It's a royal link-up! The proclaimed Princess and Queen of New York are finally together within the kingdom. Following the release of her debut EP, Like...?, Ice Spice is back, this time with the Queen, Nicki Minaj. Released Friday (Apr. 14), the royal duo gets straight to business on the official visual for the heavily anticipated, "Princess Diana" Remix. The track begins with Ice's familiar tireless verses before giving way for Nicki to come on the scene with some hard-hitting bars of her own.
Nicki shapeshifts to maintain the energy of the song while breathing new life into the track with animated wordplay. She takes shots at those who have tried to "clone her image" while also preserving Ice's original flow throughout the song. She takes the flow and transcends it to new heights delivering that larger-than-life Nicki energy heard in all of her songs. Nicki also makes sure to give Ice her credit as the Princess throughout the track. Stunning in pink, the two have their way through their Barbie-like palace. With bodacious curves, heavy confidence, and very blessed... assets, the two twerk their way through the colorful Edgar Esteves-directed visual leaving viewers definitely wanting more.
Nicki has been on a run much similar to 2009/2010 popping out with new features. The rapper teamed with YoungBoy Never Broke Again for their "WTF" collaboration last week. And next week, Minaj will get jump back into her pop bag with her highly anticipated "Alone" record with German singer/songwriter, Kim Petras. Along with her collaborations, the rapper also announced the launch of her very own music label back in March on her Queen Radio show for Amazon Music’s AMP platform. And if that weren't enough, Minaj also has joined forces with 50 Cent for a new Amazon, comic book series entitled, "Lady Danger." She is set to star in the series as well as executive produce alongside 50 Cent and others. The collaboration is already No. 1 on iTunes and extends Nicki's ongoing record of the rapper with the most No. 1's. in iTunes history. 2023 is most definitely looking to be the year of Minaj.
Prior to the release of the song, there were rumors and heavy speculation that Ice Spice may be partnering with Nicki and joining her new label. The song definitely increases the speculation. Before launching into Ice's notable verse, Nicki shouts out "Heavy On It," which has been reported to be the title of Nicki's label. Nicki quoted a fan page that noticed the song's apparent co-distribution by Nicki's label on Twitter. Using nothing more than a mere emoji smiling and covering its face, it seemed as though Minaj may have confirmed the speculations.
